Cambridge Food & Drink Festival

Welcome to the Cambridge Food & Drink Festival !!

The purpose of the Festival is the enjoyment of top quality food and drink, but the chance to learn more about food and drink makes this Festival a much more fascinating thing, don’t you think?

Typical Food Festival events have included a tutored mushroom foray in the morning, followed by an afternoon with a Michelin-starred chef teaching how to turn the mushrooms into a memorable food and drink experience. Festival goers still talk about the Belgian Beer Master who introduced us to the subtleties of his national drink, and then matched different beers to a whole range of food. A Festival innovation was a tutored tasting of Shiraz which used aroma bottles (mushroom, leather, blackcurrant, liquorice and many others) to help enhance the wine lovers’ analysis and appreciation of the drink in front of them. The food and drink lovers present agreed that this is the way forward for wine tastings. How does that strike you ?

The Food & Drink Festival is also very keen on the high quality food and drink that is produced, in season, in the immediate area. An early Festival feature was the Countryside Food Trails, encouraging people to visit the farmers’ markets, the farm shops, the orchards, the beekeepers, the millers, the brewers and the vineyard. The Festival is building up a data base on local food and drink producers, in order to produce a Food Map for the web site. We think you may be surprised by just how much variety and quality can be bought direct from local food producers.

We relish good food and drink, the pleasures of friendship and the pleasures of the table. Join us for Festival events, and combine the delights of good food and drink with learning more about the ins and outs, the history, the whys and wherefores, the techniques and skills, the subtleties. We reckon this adds to your appreciation of food and drink, and so increases your enjoyment. Why not come and see ?
